No child is too young and no individual is too old to participate! Skateboarding is known to “heal the soul” but for our special kids it is so much more! Skateboarding offers nearly every component as Occupational Therapy believe it or not focusing on motor, vestibular, and proprioceptive skills. In addition our program allows these children to be social on their own terms.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Each child participating in the clinic will be provided one on one instruction from a clinic volunteer!\u00a0\u00a0Please arrive 10-15 minutes prior to your scheduled skate time!\u00a0<\/p>\n
A few things:<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n The event will be held at\u00a0The Great Lawn<\/strong><\/em><\/u>, Ocean Avenue, Long Branch, NJ 07740. It has no real physical address. Rooney’s Oceanfront Restaurant is the landmark for The Great Lawn park. The address for the restaurant is\u00a0100 Ocean Avenue N, Long Branch, NJ 07740<\/strong>.\u00a0\u00a0You can find parking between streets:\u00a0Greeley Terrace and\u00a0Whitman Terrace.\u00a0<\/p>\n We recommend closed toe athletic footwear to ensure that your child has the easiest time skateboarding and participating in the clinic. Crocks and sandals are NOT safe on skateboards and we do not recommend wearing them. If you have a hard time finding a shoe that your child does not have to tie or wear socks with, we recommend Vans slip on shoes.\u00a0<\/p>\n We will provide the skateboard equipment for your child to use during their session. If your child has their own skateboard equipment please feel free to bring it and we can help your child learn to use it and progress! Please bring your own helmet if your child has one (even if it is a bicycle helmet). If your child has severe sensory issues it may be helped by having something familiar to use from home!
