How to Include Effective Goals in the IEP

The Individualized Educational Plan (IEP)  is the contract between the school district and the special education student and the road map to what your child will learn, when, and how. This session will cover how to craft effective, measurable goals for your child’s IEP to get the most out of the education process.

This 10 part series of workshops will cover the basics of teaching and interacting with a child with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). It is intended to help parents and educators, who may be new to ASD, get information and strategies to help their children/students gain skills and independence. Each session will be presented by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and will provide practical tools and guidance. Each session is about an hour to an hour and a half and you can attend any or all 10. The sessions are as follows:

2. Do-it-Yourself Verbal Behavior: Help Facilitate Language in Your Child/Student
3. How to Teach and Encourage Social Skills
4. Taking Children with ASD into the Community: How to Navigate Problem Behavior
5. Why Does He Do That?: Practical Intervention for Challenging Behavior
6. How to Include Effective Goals in the IEP
7. Social Stories Boot Camp: A Great Tool for Introducing New Ideas
8. Visual Supports and Daily Routines: Teaching Independence
9. How to Evaluate a Good ABA Program
10. Utilizing the Natural Environment to Teach, Generalize and Maintain Skills
