Hidden Dangers and How to Keep Individuals with Autism Safe in the Home, School, and Community

POAC’s Hidden Dangers Program educates parents, family members, and professionals working with children and adults with autism and other special needs. This workshop could save your child’s/student’s life. It is presented in a format that addresses all levels of functioning across the life span. Specifically, the program will cover:

  • Wandering and Available GPS and Other Tracking Devices
  • Improving interactions with Police and First Responders
  • Fire Safety Issues
  • Sexuality, Personal Safety, and Reducing Victimization
  • Reducing Drowning and Increasing Overall Water Safety
  • Internet and Social Media Safety
  • Bullying
  • Behavioral and Social Intervention Resources
  • School and Transportation Issues
  • Physical Modifications to the Home and Classroom

The program will offer concrete suggestions and strategies that can be applied immediately to increase safety and decrease risk at home, in the classroom, and in the community.
