Drowning is the leading cause of death for children with autism, yet water safety is one of the most overlooked skills that we teach. The workshop will help increase the safety of all children with autism. Drowning is 100% preventable. Learn how to reduce the risk for your child/student. This workshop will cover:
- Misconceptions and myths about drowning
- Specific strategies to reduce the risks
- Review of best practices water safety curricula, trainings, and educational materials, for parents, teachers, and aquatic professionals
- Water survival skills
