Parents and Caregivers, join us for a two part series that will help you understand and prepare for your child’s IEP meeting so that you can help your child succeed in school.
IEP meetings can seem overwhelming. There is so much to consider including evaluation reports, appropriate goals and objectives, what services are needed, how to measure progress and more. Two of the biggest questions parents have are: “What should I do when the Child Study Team says ‘no’?” and “What should I do if I feel my child is not getting the services he or she needs?” We will help answer these questions and more. Special needs attorney Hillary Freeman will be presenting both sessions.
Part One: Identifying Your Child’s Needs – This session will cover how to prepare for the IEP including review of evaluations and reports as well as goals and objectives. Monday, April 24th from 6:00 – 8:30pm
Part Two: Mock IEP Meetings – The mock IEP meeting will help parents fully prepare for their role as an IEP team member. Learn how to address disagreements and strategies to resolve them. Monday, May 2nd from 6:00 – 9:00pm
Dinner will be provided. Parents only please. In order to attend the second session, you must attend the first.
